CHILD FIND
Find what children you might ask? Well, the New York State Department of Health is using this particular term to focus on all children ages zero to three. Their focus, and therefore the focus of the Early Intervention Program within Ontario County Community Health Services, is to ensure that all children have access to health insurance, medical care, and receive ongoing developmental surveillance and screening from their primary health care provider.
There are screening tools which physicians and some daycare facilities use to determine whether a child is at risk for delays. It is the County's goal to assure that these screenings are provided to all children between the ages of 0-3. If, as a result of that developmental screening, children are identified with a concern, they can be referred to the Early Intervention Program and be evaluated to determine if they are in need of any services to address their delays.
Below you will find a Developmental Skills Checklist which will give you an idea as to where your child falls in relation to the expected age-appropriate milestones. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's development or access to care, please don't hesitate to call either 585-396-4546 or 1-800-299-2995.
